There are a huge range of websites providing information about farming.  Below are a selection of links you may find helpful.

ACRE
ACRE is an independent Advisory Committee composed of leading scientists. Our main function is to give statutory advice to UK Government Ministers on the risks to human health and the environment from the release and marketing of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). We also advise on the release of certain non-GM species of plants and animals that are not native to Great Britain.

Agricultural Biotechnology Council
The role of ABC is to promote a reasoned and balanced debate about the use of agricultural biotechnology in the UK, to work with all interested stakeholders to provide a source of information and learning on agricultural biotechnology, and to play an active role in the public debate, providing information, taking on board opinions and addressing any concerns. • To encourage and share more research to ensure a better understanding of the benefits that agricultural biotechnology can offer the UK.

Agriculture Industries Confederation (AIC)
The AIC was formed by the joining together into one confederation the Fertiliser Manufacturers Association, the United Kingdom Agricultural Supply and Trade Association and the major agrochemical distributors. As such it represents many of the businesses who act as suppliers to farmers. Some AIC members also, or alternatively, market arable crops on behalf of their farmer customers.

Assured Chicken Production
Assured Chicken Production (ACP) is an industry-wide initiative that addresses all the important issues concerning the production of chicken. It is an independently assessed assurance scheme designed to deliver confidence to the consumer. Standards have been written to include best practice in food safety, bird health, welfare and traceability.

British Potato Council
The British Potato Council funds research and development, transfer technology, collects and disseminates market information and advertises and promotes potatoes at home and in export markets.

Crop Protection Association
The Crop Protection Association is the UK trade body representing those companies engaged in manufacture, formulation and distribution of pesticide products for agriculture, forestry, horticulture, gardening, industrial, amenity and Local Authority uses.

Dairy Council
Discover many aspects of the production of dairy products in the United Kingdom. Includes health and diet information.

DairyCo
DairyCo was set up in April 2008 following a fundamental review of agricultural levy boards by Defra. The five existing levy boards (including the Milk Development Council) were replaced by one statutory levy board, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) and DairyCo covers the milk sector.

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Defra is the UK government department which deals with food, air, land, water and people.

European Commission - Agriculture
The European Commission is the executive for the European Union and it is responsible for implementing the European legislation (directives, regulations, decisions), budget and programmes adopted by Parliament and the Council. This site provides information on agriculture, including the common agricultural policy, rural development, sustainable agriculture, food quality.

Farm and Wildlife Advisory Group
FWAG exists to provide farmers, landowners and other clients with the best opportunity for environmental gain through cost effective, quality solutions.

Farmers Union of Wales (FUW)
The FUW is a representative organisation of Welsh farmers. It aims to protect and advance the interests of those who derive an income from Welsh agriculture.
