Solway Recycling

NFU Scotland has joined forces with Solway Recycling to offer NFUS members a discount on the services offered.

Solway Recycling operates a one-stop recycling service for farmers. As a result of negotiations on behalf of members, NFUS has secured a discount for its members on Solway services.

Solway Recycling is offering NFUS members:

• A free starter pack, comprising three Solway Liners and a Farm Waste Policy.
• A discount of £30 off the cost of a Solway Bin and 5 Liners valued at £250.00 (ex VAT).
• 10% discount on all recycled products

The free introductory offer should appeal to most farmers. It introduces them to the recycling system and allows them to comply with the new waste laws for one year. 

The Waste Policy is an audit of the wastes on farm and a store for important waste documents Solway provides. The policy builds into a very useful evidence folder for farm inspections providing proof of correct waste management and recycling.
 
When members have filled their liners they ring their local collector to arrange uplift.  Members pay the normal uplift charges in their region, which vary between £17.50 and £25.00 per liner, plus a small handing fee for replacement liners. Solway has a UK network of local collectors.

Solway Recycling has been offering farmers a plastic recycling service since 1992 and NFUS members can telephone for advice on waste issues to the Waste Hotline, Tel: 0870 8502953.

Solway and its collectors also operate the National Farmers Waste Service that incorporates a service for the disposal of hazardous wastes, such as waste oil, tyres, sharps, asbestos and old chemicals.
