Forth & Clyde

The Forth and Clyde region continues to go from strength to strength and it is a testament to the members of this region that we are now hosting more events than ever before and speaking to more stakeholders and consumers. We know that the coming months and years will be an uncertain time for many businesses and individuals, but as a Union we will be at the forefront of the discussions taking place, and will be here to support and assist members.

We have such a diverse region with over 1,000 members – farming activity varies from the intensive dairy farms to remote hill units, and it’s fantastic to continue to represent the views of so many in this region.

2018 continued to be a busy year, not least with the intense Brexit discussions and direct lobbying. NFU Scotland is involved daily with the frontline discussions and informing politicians and senior officials about Scottish agriculture and ensuring that we have a profitable and sustainable agricultural industry for generations to come.

NFU Scotland is not just here for high level lobbying, we are also extremely active at a local level.  In order for the Union to flourish it is vital that we have the input from grassroots members and your regional contacts of chairman, Willie Harper, your regional board, your local group secretary, and I as your regional manager, who are keen to get as many members actively involved with the Union as possible.  If you have any suggestions or comments please let us know, remember, it is your Union.  Also remember to make use of your Union, support is available in many different guises, be it through help with an issue with Scottish Government, planning, tenancies, attending a farm walk or stock-judging or by accessing some of the exclusive member discounts available.

This is set to be a busy year once again, but a very exciting one, as I look to meet as many of you as possible and assist where I can to better your businesses. Please do get in touch if you need help – even if it is that you don’t know where to turn to. We are you Union and we are here for you.
