Insurance Sales Agent / NFU Scotland Group Secretary - Strathaven / Lanark

About the Opportunity

The role is based within our Lanark Agency.

Our ideal candidate will have a proactive, commercially astute approach to managing a business. You and your team will be working in partnership, selling NFU Mutual’s products, while championing Scottish farming and promoting NFU Scotland’s wide range of membership services. NFU Scotland provides unrivalled assistance to support farmers, growers and champions Scottish Farming. You will be a key member of the local community and the point of contact for advice, expertise and help.
Rewards and benefits

You’ll be joining an established business, so won’t need to make any up-front capital investment and as a self-employed Agent, your income will be incorporated within the business financials. You’ll have the freedom with your business partners to grow your business; to recruit, reward and develop your staff all with the backing of a major organisation. As well as investment support, we’ll give you access to a full range of courses at our dedicated Training Academy, such as sales, business and finance planning, team recruitment and NFU Mutual products. We’ll also support you in gaining Chartered Institute of Insurers certification. You’ll also receive regular training, updates and full support from the specialists advisers at the NFU Scotland.

Initial income will be up to £40,000 with potential to grow.

Future Agent Programme - Scotland

The Role

We’re launching an exciting fast-track Future Agent Programme throughout the UK to provide the training, support and development you need to become an NFU Mutual Agent and farming representative. During the 12-month programme you will be employed by NFU Mutual / the relevant farming union and gain the necessary skills and experience to run your own NFU Mutual Agency business, along with a professional insurance qualification. Towards the end of the programme you’ll be able to apply to become a self-employed Agent, where you’ll develop strong relationships and business links with our members, selling NFU Mutual and the relevant farming union’s products and services.

With previous experience of sales you need to be highly motivated, with a desire to be your own boss by managing and leading a successful team. You’ll be an excellent communicator, have a flair for figures and a passion to grow and develop a business. You’ll have the ability to form excellent relationships with our customers and colleagues and be acceptable to relocation.

Initially you will be based in one of the following locations, however there is a requirement to be able to relocate to other areas of the UK, enabling you to successfully complete the 12 programme.

Downpatrick, N. Ireland.  Kilmarnock, Scotland.  Sedgefield, County Durham. Bury, Greater Manchester. Royston, Hertfordshire. Reading, Berkshire.  Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. Swansea, Wales.
