Sales & Marketing Assistant
(Part Time - 6 months Fixed Term Contract)

What we are looking for:

This role has been created within the Sales & Marketing team to assist with a range of duties supporting the existing team and our members.

Excellent telephone manner, database management, experience of Microsoft packages, social media skills, strong analytical skills and any previous experience of marketing would be a distinct advantage.  A full driving license would be essential as you may
be asked to visit other offices.

The main responsibilities of the position are:

  • Key part of the role will be to work closely with our Sales & Marketing Manager and Co-ordinator to review our membership and potential members database.  Previous experience of working with client records or ideally other membership organisations would be an advantage.
  • There will be a requirement to make outbound calls to a range of members, staff and office bearers, therefore the candidate must have previously carried out similar functions. 
  • The sales and marketing team is responsible for organising and attending many events throughout the year and we produce relevant marketing materials for such events. It would be preferred if the successful candidate would have knowledge or experience of this process. 
  • A good all-round knowledge of social media, specifically Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn would be advantageous.
  • General administration duties

What’s on offer:

  • A salary commensurate with competence, £18,000 pro-rata
  • Hours of work:  Monday – Friday    9:30am – 2:30pm (25 hour week)

Future Agent Programme - Scotland

The Role

We’re launching an exciting fast-track Future Agent Programme throughout the UK to provide the training, support and development you need to become an NFU Mutual Agent and farming representative. During the 12-month programme you will be employed by NFU Mutual / the relevant farming union and gain the necessary skills and experience to run your own NFU Mutual Agency business, along with a professional insurance qualification. Towards the end of the programme you’ll be able to apply to become a self-employed Agent, where you’ll develop strong relationships and business links with our members, selling NFU Mutual and the relevant farming union’s products and services.

With previous experience of sales you need to be highly motivated, with a desire to be your own boss by managing and leading a successful team. You’ll be an excellent communicator, have a flair for figures and a passion to grow and develop a business. You’ll have the ability to form excellent relationships with our customers and colleagues and be acceptable to relocation.

Initially you will be based in one of the following locations, however there is a requirement to be able to relocate to other areas of the UK, enabling you to successfully complete the 12 programme.

Downpatrick, N. Ireland.  Kilmarnock, Scotland.  Sedgefield, County Durham. Bury, Greater Manchester. Royston, Hertfordshire. Reading, Berkshire.  Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. Swansea, Wales.
