Movements to Undertake Work During Lockdown

We’ve had reports of the police questioning some staff heading to their workplace and farmers being challenged when travelling to undertake farm-related tasks.

NFU Scotland advises all members who need to travel off the farm in order to undertake any farm-related tasks to ensure they carry a form of identification that will certify that your journey is being carried out in relation to essential farm work. Such identification could be a letterhead, business card, or other paperwork relating to the farm business. This is particularly important if travelling by ferry, as well as by road.

We have worked with other industry partners so that all essential workers in the food chain can get to their workplace. We have produced pro-forma letters for you to issue to employees for whom it is absolutely essential to travel to work.
