Cabinet Secretary Sees Weather’s Effects on Farming

NFU Scotland members William and Anna Thomson hosted a visit from Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, Richard Lochhead today (Thursday 6 December 2012) at their farm in East Lothian. The Thomsons showed Mr Lochhead how the ongoing poor weather is hampering farm operations and, along with NFUS office bearers, discussed ways of helping farms cope.

Prompt Payments Welcomed by Union

NFU Scotland has welcomed the Scottish Government’s announcement that support payments to Scottish farmers will begin today (Monday, 3 December).  This maintains the Scottish Government’s good record in the prompt delivery of the Single Farm Payment (SFP) to eligible farmers.
