UK Unions Seek Support from European Farmers on Need to Avoid ‘No Deal’ Brexit

Faced with ongoing division amongst politicians and continued uncertainty, the Presidents of NFU Scotland, Ulster Farmers’ Union, NFU and NFU Cymru have written to the presidents of farming unions in Europe stating their unequivocal position that a no deal exit would be economically disastrous, and that it is in every nation’s interest that we avoid a catastrophic, disorderly exit of the UK from the EU.

UK Farming Unions and IFA Discuss Brexit

In advance of the European Council meeting on 10 April, where an extension to Article 50 could be agreed, the NFU Scotland has met with its UK farming counterparts – NFU and NFU Cymru – at a summit in Co Fermanagh hosted by the Ulster Farmers’ Union. The Irish Farmers Association also joined discussions on the impact of the UK leaving the EU without a deal.
