Bluetongue: Have Your Say on Scotland’s Approach for 2027

Bluetongue Virus Serotype 3 (BTV-3) continues to pose significant challenges for livestock keepers and the wider agricultural sector.

Following confirmation of circulating infection in south-west Scotland and the introduction of a Restricted Zone (RZ), disease control measures have been necessary to manage the risk of further spread while seeking to minimise disruption to farm businesses, livestock movements and trade.

As Scotland looks ahead to the 2027 high-risk vector season, important decisions will need to be made about the approach to disease control, including livestock movements, vaccination and the wider impact on the industry.

We want to hear from members about their experiences, concerns and priorities. Your views will help shape NFU Scotland’s position and inform our discussions with the Scottish Government on disease control measures for the 2027 high-risk period.

Log in to the members area of our website, to complete our short survey to help shape our position on BTV-3 and the approach to disease control in 2027.
