Agri Vehicle Workshops Being Held at St Boswells and Cupar in May

Two agricultural vehicle workshops will be held at St Boswells (Friday 17 May) and Cupar (Thursday 30 May)

Members have the opportunity to learn about keeping their agricultural vehicles fit for purpose and road legal as part of two workshops coming to St Boswells and Cupar in May.

Organised in partnership with the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Police Scotland, the workshops will cover various topics including weights, loads, licensing, types and general maintenance.

The St Boswells workshop will be held at Ploughlands Farm in Maxton on Friday 17 May while the Cupar workshop is at Balbirnie Farm, Freuchie on Thursday 30 May.

Both events will consist of two half day workshops and attendees can choose to either go on the morning, 9am to 12pm, or afternoon session, 1pm to 4pm, with lunch provided in between. The event is free for NFU Scotland members and is £50 for non-members, by contact NFU Scotland on 0131 472 4000.

As well as looking at road legality, representatives from The Scottish Partnership Against Rural Crime (SPARC) will also be in attendance and focus on crime prevention.  There will be opportunities throughout the day to speak with them.

Jamie Smart, NFU Scotland Transport Advisor and Legal and Technical Chairman, said: “It is important that farmers and crofters are up to date and aware of all the legislation surrounding agricultural vehicles, especially their use on the roads.”

“These workshops are an excellent way for members, and non-members, to fully update themselves on the rules and regulations for agricultural vehicles on and around the roads, and I would highly recommend anyone with questions or queries to attend.

“Transport is absolutely vital to farmers and crofters in Scotland and it is important that they are kept fully informed on any and all changes to related legislation. These workshops are the perfect opportunity to do so.”
