Dumfries and Galloway Dairy Women Network Host Bankers and Accountants for Latest Meeting

‘How do you get the most from your banker and accountant’ was the question on the lips of attendees at the most recent Dumfries and Galloway Dairy Women Network event which took place on Tuesday 13 March at the Laurie Arms, Haugh of Urr.

With Armstrong Watson and the Clydesdale Bank sponsoring and speaking at the event, attendees gained important information on how to achieve this and the key message was that ‘communication is key’.

The network took the opportunity to question the speakers on forward planning; how to ensure all family members are involved in the decision making process through to how to pick the best bank or accountant.

Joyce Campbell, Joint Chair of the Women in Agriculture Task Force, asked to attend the meeting to share detail on the task force and seek opinion on what was required to ensure a ‘much better industry for all’.  The future of farming was widely discussed, looking at how best to ensure that the younger generation are aware of the opportunities available to them in the agricultural sector.

The group were left to consider Joyce’s statement: “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.”

Tracey Roan, founder of the Dumfries and Galloway Network, said: “Huge thanks once again to our sponsors who made this event possible.  We strive to keep the network process simple and we don’t seek funding.  However, without the assistance of sponsors and the support of NFU Scotland, we would struggle to provide these monthly events for the network.”

Teresa Dougall, NFU Scotland Dumfries and Galloway Regional Manager said: “We were delighted to be approached by Joyce Campbell and to have her at a network event to hear and see how successful the group has been.  Joyce’s story is inspirational, and I think everyone there last night took away many points to consider.  It was yet another positive meeting, providing information, thought provoking detail and perhaps most importantly, networking.”
