Dumfries Branch Open Stockjudging Evening
The first event of the year for NFU Scotland’s Dumfries Branch is to go ahead on the evening of Tuesday 28 January.
The Open Stockjudging evening is being held by kind permission of Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart and in collaboration with Lower Nithsdale, Annandale and Thornhill Young Farmers’ Clubs.
Both members and non-members are warmly invited to attend what will be a great social event for the young and the not-so-young to look forward to, bringing a bit of cheer to the gloomy end of winter.
NFU Scotland’s President Nigel Miller, Vice President Rob Livesey and Milk Committee chairman, Gary Mitchell will be in attendance and happy to answer any questions attendees wish to raise throughout the evening – with an appearance for one or two on the judging panel.
There will be nine classes including three in each category of dairy, sheep and beef, plus a novelty class. The overall winner’s prize is £100 with further prizes for winners of each class under Open, Women’s and Under 26 categories. Entry is £8 and includes refreshments.
Please call 0131 472 4000 or text 07787 434 103 to find out more details or to inform NFU Scotland if you plan to go by Monday 27 January at latest. The evening will start at 7pm in Dumfries Mart, Huntingdon Road, Dumfries, DG1 1NF.
