The annual survey will now run until Wednesday, 15 January.
NFU Scotland is calling on all farming and crofting members to complete its 2025 Intentions Survey with a message of “help us help you”.
The survey, now in its third year, has continually kept the Union updated on member business changes and has formed a bank of evidence for its lobbying efforts. This year, the survey has been streamlined to make it more relevant to individual farming and crofting sectors.
With the ongoing Scottish Government’s Land Reform Bill, the Union has designed the 2025 Intentions Survey to capture additional data on farm and croft size. This information will help form evidence of potentially impacted farms in key discussions on proposed land management plans.
In an extension to the original closing date, members now have until Wednesday, 8 January 2025 to complete the survey available here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JHCKDH7. Upon completion, they will be invited to enter a free draw to win a hamper of premium Scottish food and drink.
While announcing the 2025 Intentions Survey, NFU Scotland Head of Policy Gemma Cooper said: “NFU Scotland wants to secure a profitable and sustainable future for all of our members. A robust and updated evidence base is vital in achieving this so policy makers are fully informed on current business developments or changes.
“We know that farmers and crofters are facing uncertainty following the UK and Scottish Budget announcements as well as Land Reform and the possible creation of a Galloway National Park.
“There are also key discussions around proposed land management plans so this data will help us show what type of farm businesses will be impacted. This makes our 2025 survey even more vital as we prepare for the year ahead.
“While our fantastic network of local branches, regions and national committees is a great route for information flow, direct data from the survey is invaluable. It tells us how things are on the ground for our members, which in turn, allows us to inform policymakers on what farmers and crofters need in policy and support.
“As the largest agricultural organisation in Scotland, it is vital we have a credible evidence bank. Our members drive how successful we are in making an impact on their behalf and so, I urge farmers and crofters to help us help you by completing our 2025 Business Intentions Survey at:
