Get connected at broadband and mobile webinar on 17 February

With Covid-19 putting connectivity issues at the top of rural priorities, NFU Scotland and Digital Scotland are to host a joint webinar on Wednesday 17 February for those looking to improve their mobile or internet connections.

With demand likely to be high, registration for the event, which starts at noon, is recommended by going to: https://bit.ly/38JIeeR

This event, the first of its kind, is a collaborative effort to provide information about the support available to those living and working in the countryside.  There will be a chance to hear directly from members of Digital Scotland, the team tasked with improving access to digital connectivity.

There will be the opportunity to learn about how the Scottish Government will be improving access to superfast broadband and mobile services through its R100 (Reaching 100%) and S4GI (Scottish 4G Infill) programmes.

South Lanarkshire farmer Tom French, who chairs the Union’s Legal and Technical Committee, will be in the chair for this webinar.  He said:

“We know that digital and mobile connectivity is a priority for our members and emerging results from the NFUS Connectivity survey have highlighted this.

“For some, the pandemic has placed additional strain on what were already poor connections, and this webinar will be an opportunity to learn more about the programmes in place to improve digital and mobile connectivity.”

“I would encourage anyone who has an existing connection but wants to learn more about the improvements coming down the line to join in.  There will also be an opportunity to raise questions in advance to tackle any specific issues.”
