Highland Regional Food Triumphs at NFU Scotland AGM

The NFU Scotland Highland Region took great pride in showcasing some of the very best of its produce to 500 eager diners at last night’s (Monday 13 February) NFUS annual dinner.

Lady Claire Macdonald, a well-known supporter and advocate of the quality of Scottish food, designed the menu for the event. Guests enjoyed a Seafood platter of crab and Wester Ross smoked salmon; Fillet of beef with onion gravy, and steak and kidney with oatmeal crumble; a cheese platter featuring the produce of individual cheese makers of the region; and a Baked dark chocolate and raspberry pudding served with raspberry mousse.

As well as great food, the evening was also filled with great Scottish music as Duncan MacGillivray and his band took to the floor to entertain the crowd.

Hugh Fraser, Highland Regional Chairman, said:

“I’m so delighted for all those involved in the preparations for the annual dinner that it was a great success. Something of this size will always be quite a lot of work, but everything came together really well in the end and our guests certainly seemed to have a good time. 

 “The whole event has been a fantastic opportunity for us to promote the great quality and diversity of food we have here in the Highlands. A lot of credit must go to Lady Claire Macdonald who came up with a wonderful menu that allowed us to showcase some of the best produce we have here on our doorstep. She has my personal thanks for her support throughout the whole planning process.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support of a great number of food and drink suppliers who gave so willingly of their produce, and time, to help us pull the dinner together. I’d like to thank them for making the dinner possible.”
