Davidson & Robertson helpline on utilities latest addition to member services
With the addition of a new free helpline, NFU Scotland has boosted what it offers its members via bespoke over-the-phone services.
The five helplines available free to members now provide accessible support and advice on:
- agriculture vehicle and transport with our transport adviser Jamie Smart.
- legal and tenancy issues with legal experts Gillespie Macandrew
- dairy through the free Scottish Dairy Hub
- taxation through chartered accountants and business advisers Johnston Carmichael
- utilities and infrastructure through rural surveyors and consultants Davidson & Robertson.
With their membership number to hand, our host partners receive regular calls from our members via these channels confirming the value members place on having these helplines available to them.
Davidson & Robertson operates the newest dedicated helpline service. Members are entitled to free advice on utilities and infrastructure projects impacting on their land. If companies such as Scottish Power, Scottish Water, or Network Rail need to do statutory work on a member’s property, experts will help them understand their rights are; what they are entitled to and support them in making claims, so they are properly compensated.
NFU Scotland Chief Executive John Davidson said: “NFU Scotland is relaunching our helpline services to remind members of the vast array of professional partners available to offer help and advice free as part of their membership.
“Farmers and crofters throughout Scotland make use of the helplines regularly and they are a proven and valuable addition to support available to members. The professional partners also collaborate with us at a regional and national level to provide technical speakers for member webinars and events. As the year progresses, our aim is to grow the portfolio of support providers to cover all the farm or croft related dilemmas that our members may require help and advice on.
“These partnerships are in addition to the long-running working relationship between NFU Scotland and NFU Mutual. Group Secretaries are the cornerstone of our local representation and work with new and existing members on NFU Mutual insurance and financial services, as well as promoting NFU Scotland membership.”
