Farmers and Crofters Invited to Attend Event on 17 May at Crossroads Hub in Kilmarnock at 7.30pm

NFU Scotland are on the road with a series of 12 event to discuss future agricultural policy in Scotland.

The events – taking place in Shetland, Orkney, Skye, Inverurie, Stepps, Carfraemill, Castle Douglas, Dingwall, Perth, Kilmarnock, Campbeltown and Oban – invite farmers and crofters to discuss Scotland’s transition from a post-Brexit, post-Common Agricultural Policy support framework to a new agricultural policy in Scotland, expected to be in place by 2025.

All NFU Scotland roadshow events will be attended by President Martin Kennedy and Director of Policy Jonnie Hall.

Ahead of the roadshow at Crossroads Hub next week, Christine Cuthbertson Regional Manager for Ayrshire said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the Ayrshire farming community to this event and would encourage members to come along and get involved”.

“We are in a pivotal time for the industry, against a backdrop of high inflation and farming outwith previous EU regimes. As Ayrshire is a region of predominantly family farms producing high quality milk, meat, eggs, cereals, potatoes, and some vegetables, it is critical that we shape Scottish farming policy to provide a vibrant, sustainable sector and environment for future generations of both farmers and consumers.”
