NFU Scotland Roadshow Coming to Shetland to Debate Future Agricultural Policy
Farmers and crofters invited to event on Tues 31 May at Shetland Hotel at 7pm
NFU Scotland are on the road with a series of 12 events to discuss future agricultural policy in Scotland.
The events – taking place in Shetland, Orkney, Skye, Inverurie, Stepps, Carfraemill, Castle Douglas, Dingwall, Perth, Kilmarnock, Campbeltown and Oban – invite farmers and crofters to discuss Scotland’s transition from a post-Brexit, post-Common Agricultural Policy support framework to a new agricultural policy in Scotland, expected to be in place by 2025. All NFU Scotland roadshow events will be attended by President Martin Kennedy and Director of Policy Jonnie Hall.
Ahead of the roadshow in Lerwick on Tuesday 31 May, Lorna Scott Regional Policy Advisor for Shetland said: “We’re very happy to welcome Martin and Jonnie here for the first time since the pandemic began. Agricultural policy and support are about to go through huge changes in the next couple of years, so this is a great chance for members to discuss this and hear how this will affect us in Shetland.”
