NFU Scotland has appointed Carly Ross as its new Director of Communications, reinforcing its commitment to championing Scottish farmers and crofters with modern, strategic and effective communications.
Carly brings over twenty years of senior communications experience, including work within highly regulated industries and public bodies. Her recent role as Interim Head of Communications at Zero Waste Scotland saw her lead a review of the organisation’s communications and engagement strategy. Prior to that, she was Director of Communications at Golden Charter, advising on reputation, policy and media engagement.
At NFU Scotland, Carly will lead the Union’s communications strategy - from member engagement and political advocacy to media relations and digital storytelling - helping deliver on its vision of a profitable and sustainable future for Scottish agriculture. A core focus of her role will be enhancing how the Union communicates with its members - ensuring timely, accessible, and engaging content that reflects the issues farmers and crofters care about most. She joins the Union at a critical time for Scottish agriculture, as the industry faces a rapidly evolving policy landscape, increasing environmental challenges, and growing public focus on food security and sustainability.
NFU Scotland Chief Executive John Davidson said; “We’re delighted to welcome Carly at such a crucial time for Scottish agriculture. Her skills in strategic communications, innovation and digital engagement will strengthen our ability to influence policy, engage members and promote the value of our food producers to
the nation.”
Carly Ross added; “It’s a privilege to join NFUS and contribute to its mission of supporting farming and crofting communities across Scotland. I’m excited to work with such a dedicated team and help make sure our industry’s voice is strong, modern and respected across the media and beyond.”
