Two rural charities have benefited from more than £3,700, raised at NFU Scotland’s Annual Dinner held at the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews on Thursday 11 February 2016.
Following the dinner, guests gave donations, which were then split between Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) and Scotland’s rural charity RSABI.
Donations from dinner guests totalled £3,786 and cheques were presented to Chief Executive of RSABI, Nina Clancy and Carole Brunton from RHET Fife (today) Friday 12 February 2016.
Nina Clancy, RSABI commented: “RSABI very much appreciates the ongoing support from NFU Scotland and its members. This money will make a real difference to people’s lives. We are looking to substantially increase the number of people we help, particularly at this time and this money will assist in that aim.

Carole Brunton, Project Co-ordinator for RHET thanked everyone for their donations and said: “We, at RHET, are proud to offer visits to working farms, food and farming, estate and countryside days all free of charge to school children across Scotland.
“We can only fulfil the requests from teachers thanks to the generosity of the farming community volunteering their time and through funds raised from grants and donations.
“The continued and valued support RHET receives from NFU Scotland members from donations at the annual gathering is appreciated by all of us who are engaged in the work of the charity which allows us to continue to get as many young people as possible out into the country.”
