Shinty Showcase for Scotch Lamb

Top tasting fare for Cup final fans on 19 September

Fans heading for heading for the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final in Oban next weekend (19 September) will be able to feast on tasty Scotch Lamb courtesy of Food From Argyll.

The shinty showcase is just one of a number of events where farmers and local food producers have taken the opportunity to promote fantastic Scotch Lamb PGI to members of the public.

NFUS Regional Manager for Argyll, Lucy Sumsion, who will be attending the cup final said: “Argyll farmers are rightly proud of what they produce, and events like these provide a platform for them to speak to members of the public and demonstrate the passion they have for putting food onto our nation’s tables.

“At this time of year Scotch Lamb is at its best and most plentiful. Shinty’s biggest showcase is a chance for farmers and local food producers to speak to the public about farming and encourage them to try Scotch Lamb and support Scottish farmers by buying their produce.

Chairman of Food From Argyll, Winston Churchill said: “What makes food from Argyll special is the passion and enthusiasm of the people who produce it, like our hard working sheep farmers. Here in Argyll you’re always close to the food source and as a result you get some of the freshest food you’ve ever eaten.

“Food from Argyll is delighted to be catering at this prestigious sporting event so as well as having local lamb on the menu, producer members will be providing burgers featuring Argyll beef, venison and salmon topped up with home-made soups, home baking, cheese, coffee roasted in Argyll and Fyne Ales to help it all go down.

“This will be the final event in our season which has taken the group from events like the Loch Fyne Food Fair and Fynefest to T in the Park, Belladrum and Murrayfield – promoting quality Argyll food and drink all the way.”
