Stock-Judging Set to Raise Funds for Cancer Charities

A stock-judging and barbecue is aiming to boost the coffers of two cancer charities.

NFU Scotland members, Rab and Jean Paton and family will be hosting the charity stock-judging at Easter Greenhill Farm on Friday 19 July and are inviting people from across the agricultural community to support it. Alongside a stock-judging a hog roast and barbecue will take place, with the pig, reared and donated by the Patons.

The family – Rab and wife Jean, and sons John and Robert - run 160 Ayrshire cross red and white dairy cows, a 270 suckler herd, alongside a flock of 630 texel cross ewes, and a small pig unit comprising 10 breeding sows.

The evening will raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity and Cancer Research UK, two charities close to the family’s hearts.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of local businesses who have gone over and above to help us and donate to the event and the charities we are supporting. It is set to be a fantastic night with a few drams involved, some great banter and good food. Everyone is welcome.”
