Webinar to Help Safeguard Your Business Affairs

Having your business affairs in order is vital to protect your farm business – are you prepared?  NFU Scotland in partnership with Gillespie Macandrew are holding a webinar on Wednesday 29 July at 7.00pm to keep everyone informed about the use and importance of mechanisms such as power of attorney, guardianship and incapacity.

Brought to you in partnership with Gillespie Macandrew, operators of the NFUS legal helpline the webinar will help you understand what you can put in place to safeguard your business.

The webinar will see Eilidh Adams of Gillespie Macandrew provide a 30-minute presentation covering the topics of Powers of Attorney, guardianship and incapacity.  Participants will then be invited to take part in questions and answer session on these subjects lasting 15 minutes.

NFU Scotland Vice President, Charlie Adam who will chair proceedings commented: “In reality none of us know what is around the corner and that it is why it’s best for you, for your family and for your farming business to be prepared for every eventuality.  I’d encourage you to register for this informative event and join us on the night to learn more about how to safeguard your affairs.”

Speaking ahead of the event Eilidh Adams said: “Making decisions is something that many of us take for granted.  But what happens if you lose capacity to look after your finances or welfare?  This can happen suddenly and unexpectedly as a result of accident or illness, or due to a more gradual and predictable illness.  Talking about what would happen if you were no longer able to make decisions for yourself is not

an easy subject to broach with loved ones, but for many the current Covid-19 pandemic may have brought this to the forefront of their minds.”
