Theme: Food, Farming and the Environment 

A competition has been launched by NFU Scotland which focusses on Scottish food, farming and the environment to encourage people to get out and about and enjoy the countryside responsibly.

The NFU Scotland Photography Competition 2017 is open for entries in two age categories – 18 years of age and under, and 18 years of age and older – with some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including from NFUS affinity partner Travel Solutions, Aldi Scotland, Laggan Outdoors and Blackstone Clydesdales.

Winning photographs will appear within the Union’s membership magazine, the Scottish Farming Leader, which goes to 8,500 farmers, crofters and stakeholders.  Submitted images may feature on promotional material by NFU Scotland and Aldi, as well as on social media channels.

Images must be more than 300 dpi and atleast 2MB in size and must have been taken in Scotland. Entries should be submitted by email to ruth.mcclean@nfus.org.uk with full name, address, date of birth, contact number and details of when and where the photograph was taken provided. The closing date for entries is Thursday 17 August 2017 at 5pm with winners notified thereafter.

The prizes in the age categories is as follows:

  • Up to 18 years of age
  • First prize: Blackstone Clydesdale experience voucher for two people for two hours – worth £120
  • Second prize: Segway tour for two at Laggan Outdoor - worth £100
  • 18 years of age and over
  • First prize: P&O Cairnryan/Larne return ferry crossing for a car and two people, courtesy of Travel Solutions – worth £300
  • Second prize: £100 gift vouchers from Aldi
  • Third prize: Case of fine wine from Aldi - worth £39.04

NFU Scotland Photography Competition 2017 – terms and conditions

  1. This competition is open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland except for employees of NFU Scotland, their families or anyone else associated with this competition.
  2. All information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  3. Entries should be submitted by via email to ruth.mcclean@nfus.org.uk. Entries must be labelled with the entrant’s name and location of the photograph and image files must be 300 dpi and atleast 2MB. Entrants should include their own name, address and telephone number. We regret that we are unable to accept postal entries.
  4. All entries must be received by 5pm on Thursday 17 August 2017.
  5. All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.
  6. Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their providing the competition, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to National Farmers Union Scotland to feature any or all of the submitted images in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition, as well as other partners with prior approval.
  7. Only one entry per person. Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.
  8. The winning entry will be that that is judged to be the most visually appealing, original and self-explanatory. The winner will be notified within fourteen days of the closing date of the competition of Thursday 17 August at 5pm.
  9. The winners will be required to take part in publicity.
  10. The prizes as described are available on the date of publication. All prizes are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives.
  11. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the promoter and accordingly the promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the promoter as a result thereof.
