The Union, guided by the working groups, lobbies policy makers on the practicalities and impacts of policies and regulations on industry, urging them to listen to the needs of industry in their decision making.  NFU Scotland also plays a role in providing guidance and updates back to industry on changes in requirements keeping members up to speed with rules, regulations, guidance and issues that might affect their business.

In this section, you can find the latest work in pig and poultry policy – including business guide update, briefing papers, consultation submissions and policy priorities.

8 May 2017:  Avian influenza found in 2 backyard flocks in Lancashire.  Restrictions are currently in place.  All bird keepers are reminded to extra vigilant and use enhanced biosecurity measures, especially where there may be risks of contact with water fowl.  Click here for more information.
