Learning Lessons from FFIS and Moving Forward

I’m sure that NFUS members will be aware of the Future Farming Investment Scheme, commonly known as FFIS. Last year saw the inaugural round of capital funding and whilst it was initially welcomed, when the results received a mixed response. There were always going to be winners and losers when £70 million was applied for and there was £20 million available. It is important that we acknowledge and understand the frustrations voiced. If you are reading this as an unsuccessful applicant, you can contact your local Scottish Government office to understand your result.

Inheritance Tax Threshold Raised to £2.5m Following NFU Scotland Campaign

Responding to news the inheritance tax threshold will be raised to £2.5m, after a tireless campaign fought by NFU Scotland and the other farming unions, President Andrew Connon said: “Today’s announcement is a significant day for the future of Scottish agriculture. The changes set out by the UK Government is a victory for common sense and reflects 14 months of relentless lobbying from NFU Scotland and the other UK Farming Unions in our pursuit to mitigate the worst of the impacts of the policy and protect our family farms.”
