Memorial To Women’s Land Army to be Sited in Moray

A memorial to commemorate the work undertaken by thousands of women during WWII is planned to be sited in Moray. The Land Army Memorial Scotland (LAMS) charitable trust has identified a site, kindly donated by The Crown Estate, on their Fochabers estate, on which to establish the memorial.

Animal Declaration Link to Outstanding LFA Payments

While many Scottish hill and upland farmers have now received lifeline support through the Less Favoured Areas Support Scheme, it has emerged that many of those still awaiting payment for the 2010 scheme may not have completed necessary paperwork, due to have been returned in October 2009.

Union Proposes Measures to Support Pigs Sector

NFU Scotland has proposed a package of measures to ease the severe pressure on the nation’s pig sector caused by imports of cheaper, lower welfare pigmeat from continental Europe and the persistent high cost of grain. While the cost of cereals has eased in the last few days, prices are still at a level that is challenging for the pig sector.
