‘Rules for the Road’ webinar to keep members on the right side of the lawWith harvest fast approaching, NFU Scotland is holding a webinar on Wednesday, 8 July at 7.00pm to keep everyone up to speed on the rules, regulations and safety checks needed when using agricultural vehicles to travel and transport on the road. The ‘Rules for the Road’ webinar will be chaired by NFU Scotland’s Vice President Charlie Adam and feature presentations from NFUS Transport Adviser Jamie Smart, who will be joined by Jim Cobban, a traffic examiner for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Authority (DVSA).Those who wish to take part can register and receive log in details at: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_nD110avASqyaeX06BoyaJQThe webinar will provide information on towing weights, necessary signage, coupling, brakes, lighting, vehicle dispensations and dimensions for tractors and vehicles.
Attendees will also learn practical hints and tips about keeping on the right side of the law on the road and how to stay safe and legal with daily vehicle maintenance checks.Speaking ahead of this important webinar, Charlie Adam said: “This online event is a great opportunity for farmers and crofters to get up-to-date information on rules and regulations that could affect them and how they run their businesses. With harvest coming, the timing could not be better.“Vehicle legislation can be a complicated issue, so it is always good for those who regularly use agriculture vehicles on the road to get a refresher. “This workshop will involve the DVSA, providing the ideal opportunity for members to hear from an expert, ask questions and find out more information about certain transportation issues that are legally important.“Transport is key to farmers and crofters and, ahead of harvest, it is important that they have the skills and knowledge to comply with the law. “I would encourage members to sign up for the live session. For those who cannot attend, we will make the video from the session available on NFU Scotland’s social media sites.” EndsContact Bob Carruth on 07788 927675
